KATE Blog Post Submission Criteria

Seeking Posts for 2020 KATE Monthly Blog Post Topics!
  • May: Teacher Appreciation 
  • June: Self-/Co-Care or Supporting LGBT+ Learners
  • July: Celebrate Kansas Education
  • August: Back to School - Back to “Normal”?
  • September: Reading Beyond the Classroom
  • October: Teachers as Artists/Keynote Speakers
  • November: National Writing Month 
  • December: 2020 Reflections and New Year’s Resolutions

Submissions for each monthly topic must also fall under one of the following categories:
  • Lesson ideas/pedagogical suggestions
  • Personal reflections about teaching 
  • Professional reflections about teaching 
  • Personal creative works

Please read the information below for more in-depth submission criteria. 
We are excited that you are interested in submitting for the KATE Blog.  Teachers are our greatest asset and resource, and we know that the expertise you have to offer should be shared with our community of teachers. Below are the submission guidelines that we ask you to meet when submitting a post/article for review:
  1. Post/Article must fall under one of the following categories:
    • Lesson ideas/pedagogical suggestions
    • Personal reflections about teaching 
    • Professional reflections about teaching 
    • Personal creative works
  2. 1000 word count minimum - 1500 word count maximum 
  3. Post must include a call to action - state what you want the readers to do after they have finished reading
  4. Post must include a title 
  5. Draft of post must be submitted on time (deadlines will be provided specifically for each individual)
  6. Author Information
    • Author bio (2-3 sentences)
    • Author photo
    • Author social media handles

Once submitted, our blog committee will review your submission and provide you with feedback as quickly as possible.
