This is the fifth year in a row that Kansas English has earned this distinction from the National Council of Teachers of English!

Established in 1995, this award honors outstanding affiliate journals and their editors who demonstrate excellence in these publications.

Congratulations to Dr. Katie Cramer, editor of Kansas English!

Read more about this award, Kansas English, and opportunities to learn how to publish your work in a KATE publication by clicking 'Read More' below!

The winning affiliate journal must be a magazine-type publication—print or online—and provide members with scholarly articles on issues and topics related to English language arts teaching. The journals are judged on content, organization, and scholarly exploration, appeal to many different groups within the affiliate, coverage of important issues in English language arts education, and inclusion of other types of writing (e.g., poetry, affiliate news, book reviews).

The Affiliate Journal of Excellence Award winners will be announced at the 2024 NCTE Annual Convention in Boston, Massachusetts, during the Affiliate Session on Sunday, November 24.

Please consider contributing your work to Kansas English by visiting their website at https://sites.google.com/view/kansasenglish/home. The deadline for the 2025 issue is Jan. 15, 2025.

You can view the current issue and archives here: https://journals.wichita.edu/index.php/ke/issue/view/41.

Also, be sure to checkout Dr. Cramer's breakout session at the 2024 KATE Conference: Voices from Our Backyard! Dr. Cramer and other editors of KATE publications will be presenting their session, "Join the Professional Conversation: Publish Your Scholarly and Creative Work with KATE!" on Saturday November 2, during the F Sessions (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) at the Drury Plaza Hotel.
