"Rachelle Blue Honored with 2024 High School Teacher of Excellence Award from National Council of Teachers of English Award recognizes exemplary high school classroom teachers.
Champaign, Illinois—The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE) have selected Rachelle Blue, Eisenhower High School, as a 2024 High School Teacher of Excellence honoree. Established in 2001 by the NCTE Secondary Section, this award honors and celebrates high school classroom teachers who demonstrate excellent practices and contributions in the classroom. Blue’s nomination application noted: "Mrs. Blue is the type of teacher I wanted to become, and of whom I would want my own kids learning from. She makes those around her better, and that is all I could ask for as an administrator, and as a colleague. Mrs. Blue attends as many trainings and conferences as she can to better herself and keep growing to help others. She is as involved as possible in helping building leadership create policy and make changes to help students and teachers succeed. She is willing to take extra time out of her day to help with job interviews, master schedule building, and IEP needs, not because she wants to control what is happening, but because she knows she can make a difference and make others around her better at the decisions we will all have to make.” Blue will be announced as a recipient of the NCTE High School Teacher of Excellence Award on Saturday, November 23, 12:30–2:30 p.m., at the 2024 NCTE Annual Convention Secondary Section Luncheon. About NCTE The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and the language arts at all levels of education. For more than 100 years, NCTE has worked with its members to offer journals, publications, and resources; to further the voice and expertise of educators as advocates for their students at the local and federal levels; and to share lesson ideas, research, and teaching strategies through its Annual Convention and other professional learning events.
