KATE Open Writes are open to all ELA teachers in the state of Kansas. You do not have to be a KATE member to attend (we will, however, highly encourage you to join!). They are an ongoing space for collaboration, independent writing, idea sharing, and time to create works toward publication on KATE PAGES.
In these dynamic and often challenging times for education, our voices matter more than ever. Kansas Association of Teachers of English and our blog, KATE Pages, invite you to contribute your voice to an ever-growing consortium of English language arts-focused literature from the field. To pair with our upcoming conference theme of Empowering Voices, Inspiring Change: Navigating Change in Turbulent Times, as well as the NCTE Annual Convention theme of Dream Boldly, KATE Pages is announcing an open all-call for blog posts.
We are in search of authentic and insightful contributions that showcase what it is like to teach with today’s educational challenges. Specifically, we welcome:
Lesson plans that innovatively foster critical thinking, student agency, and media literacy
Book talks that highlight literature that resonates with current youth and student experiences
Reflective pieces on transformative teaching moments, classroom breakthroughs, and/or revelations within the profession
Digital literacy approaches that have worked successfully in preparing students for an evolving world
Why contribute to KATE Pages? Your blog post will:
Reach educators in hundreds of educational institutions around the state of Kansas
Establish you as a thought leader and contributor for our award-winning professional community
Build and sustain excitement for the upcoming conference in October
