The Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE) has been named one of seven recipients of the 2023 Kent D. Williamson Affiliate Membership Recruitment Award given by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
Established in 1987, this award recognizes NCTE affiliates that have increased their memberships over the past year. Awards are calculated as a percentage of increase based on membership lists submitted by the affiliates in both year off and the year prior to the award. Other winners this year include the Arizona English Teachers Association (AETA), the California Association of Teachers of English (CATE), the Maine Council for English language Arts (MCELA), the New York State English Council (NYSEC), the Ohio Council of Teachers of English language Arts (OCTELA), and the Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English (WPCTE). The award winners will be announced at the 2023 NCTE Annual Convention in Columbus, Ohio, during the Affiliate Session on Sunday, November 19. About NCTE The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) is devoted to improving the teaching and learning of English and language arts at all levels of education.
