Dear Colleagues and Friends, Happy holidays, and happy new year! · Is one of your resolutions to submit your scholarly and/or creative work for publication? · Do you have a manuscript that’s looking for a home? · Do you have colleagues—including undergraduate and graduate students—who are looking to publish in a nationally recognized state journal that provides instructive feedback from reviewers and editors? You are in luck because Kansas English is accepting submissions for the 2024 issue through January 15, 2024. What is Kansas English? Kansas English is the award-winning, peer-reviewed journal of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE). It publishes a variety of works on subjects of interest to English and literacy teachers at all levels, including practitioner pieces, scholarly articles, reflective essays, interviews, book reviews, teaching tips, and creative works (including photos and artwork). Kansas English publishes about 75 percent of the submissions it receives. How do I submit my work? First, review the call for general submissions. There are a wide variety of peer-reviewed manuscript submission options to consider! Then, review the Kansas English Columns page for exciting editor-reviewed manuscript submission options from our column editors. The anonymized peer review process ensures that all general submission authors receive constructive feedback from two knowledgeable peer reviewers on the Editorial Review Board, and column authors receive supportive feedback from column editors. Where can I find previous issues of Kansas English? Kansas English has been published online since 2017 on Wichita State University Libraries’ Open Journal Systems and is easily searchable on the Web, so authors are guaranteed that their work has as wide a reach as possible. Spread the word! Please share this email with colleagues, undergraduate and graduate students, ELA and literacy teachers at all levels, media specialists, and anyone interested in teaching English language arts and literacy. The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) has recognized Kansas English for the past four years (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023) with the Affiliate Journal of Excellence Award.
